I am having trouble understanding this:

Freshwater fish respond to their osmotic environment by:

Freshwater means that their is very little salt and that the environment is hypotonic to the fish. In order to make up the difference, a freshwater fish would drink lots of water in order to balance the gradients. I understand hypo and hyper tonic stuff but the example is screwing me up.
 
Freshwater fish is saltier than the environment so it's hyperosmotic to the environment while the environment is hypo-osmotic to the fish.
So water goes into the fish

In response fresh water fish:
Will rarely drink (since water naturally goes in already)
Urinate a lot (to lose the water)
Absorb salts (to maintains it's usual saltiness >then freshwater)

I rmr a question from A DAT i took a two years ago. what would happen if you place RBC into a freshwater?.

I put it will burst. i hope i was right..lOL
