I've got three letters so far (2 science and 1 Dentist)

I'll make it quick,

Is that enough for most schools? I say this because Boston requires 3, (two science and one from liberal arts). For those of you that have been through the process, how serious is this requirement? Should I be O.K. with what I've got?

And as for the rest of you applying for Fall 2006, how many LOR's do you have, and what kinds of professors? Any from Dentists?

Hey, thanks!

Dick, I had three from science professors and two from two seperate dentists I worked for.

I would take the schools requirements very seriously. They will likely put your app. on hold if you do not meet their stated requirements.

oh god, welcome back Ianwright..... you seriously need to get a hobby.

any from non-science? is that even important, on BU's website, they do note that they want 2 sci and 1 non-sci, you think i could get away with 3 sci?

The Boston website says atleast 2 or the 3 required should be from science instructors. The 3rd doesn't have to be from a non-science instructor unless you want one.

(2 OF the 3, it actually makes a big difference in your post)

BTW, my question was, if that third letter is from a dentist, do you think that would be Okay? Has anyone contacted or allready know if Boston would except a letter from a dentist instead? This information would be invaluable! I would appreciate any responses. If I don't get any responses, I might even call the school (I don't know if this is desirable - is it?).

BTW, from BU's website:

Letters of recommendation should be included in the AADSAS application. The Admissions Committee values letters from persons who are able to provide a thoughtful, thorough, and candid assessment of an applicant's academic ability and potential for success in dental study. If the applicant's college or university has a premedical or predental advisory committee, its composite evaluation is required. In the absence of such a committee, the Admissions Committee requires three evaluations by senior faculty members, at least two of whom should be in science departments

MY LOR last year:

3 from science
1 from non science
1 from an employer
1 from a dentist

Between all the schools I applied to, 1 from each category was required, and I would recommend getting 1 from each source. It never hurts to have too many letters, especially if they are good. You can't be too prepared.

I read your other post about delaying for your presonal statement. DO NOT DELAY. Finish your essay, get it perfect, and submit. Don't waste time. Getting your app in as soon as possible is very important imo.

Hey dane, nice stats! how did you manage a 3.99/4.00 GPA? And your DAT is outa this world!

BTW, I think 2 science letters and 1 from a dentist should be Okay, I checked all of the schools I'm applying to, and I think it would work out!

As for finishing my personal statement - your right! I need to get that thing out! Thanks for the push, I appreciate it! My only question was, how many people do you think use a professional service to get their personal statements edited? I'm thinking about doing one of those two day services, so I can get my application outa here by friday 😳

Thanks again Bud!
