I've been a lurker on SDN for the most part over the past 5 years and have found test preparation hints, as well as more specialty specific information, very useful. I just wanted to give a little encouragement to those who wonder if USMLE World is sufficient preparation for Step 3. I read a lot of threads about how you needed this or that resource in addition to World and I might have freaked out if I cared more about how I scored. I made my studying simple and worked through 85% of the World Qbank on tutor mode over the last 4 weeks of intern year and did 25% of the CCS part in the days before my test so I knew the format (WHICH IS A BEAR). After receiving my score, which at 258 was higher than I expected, I can assure you the World Qbank is an excellent prep source. Understand, I did just complete a preliminary medicine year at an academic medical center (although 1/4th of my time was in night/evening/day cross cover rotations on medicine floors, ICU, CCU, oncology or neurology which provided little real learning time) and step 1 and 2 were both >260 (although not by a lot). In summary, use World and don't freak out, you should pass if you're an ok test taker. Take the CCS seriously as the format/oddity of this section should not be underestimated, although I do believe they are lenient because I felt I did not do well but turned out ok. Good luck!
