Regardless of when it happened, adversity is adversity particularly long term discrimination.
 
That’s what I thought as well. Whenever I see conflicting info from a non-SDN/reddit site, especially a med school consulting site, it kinda makes me worry though.
Reddit is full of underachievers and the medical consultant just wants your money.
 
The adversity can be from any point in your life. Adcoms want to see that your response to adversity indicates that you have what it takes to be a good medical student and doctor. With rare exceptions, adcoms are not interested in your academic achievements before college.
