I hear a lot of talk about AA score versus TA score. I was wondering if anyone can tell me what these refer to.

Also, how does the fact that I have transferred to 3 different schools in undergrad effect the way I am going to be viewed by these schools? (I mean strictly based on that fact, not GPA).

I am also in the market for study materials so if anyone has any offers I'd be more than interested. Email: [email protected]

When you take the OAT, you will get a score for each section O. Chem, General Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Reading Comprehension, and Quantitative Reasoning, ranging from 200 (the lowest) to 400 (highest). A 300 score is "average" on the test, but isn't necessarily the average for each optometry school. You also get two "cumulative" scores. The AA or Academic Average, is based upon your performance on the entire test. I'm not sure if it is an actual average or that's just a clever name. You also get a Total Science Score (TS - not sure if that's what you meant) which only takes into account your science scores in Organic Chemistry, General Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. I'm of the opinion that schools look at both scores as being important because they don't want someone who isn't good in science (Optometry is a health profession, ie science based) and they don't want someone who is awesome in science but can't read and understand to save his/her life. If you haven't already, look at www.opted.org under "Online Registration for the OAT." There you will find a link to the Online Examinee Guide which may answer any other questions you have.

As far as transferring to three undergrads, I don't know how that would affect you but I would suggest calling the schools you are interested in and asking them directly. And sorry, I don't have any prep materials for sell... I only bought TopScore and used my old notes. Best of luck to you!!!
