Was going to go over my coursework one final time today when I realized that some of the classifications had been changed--at first I thought I had mistakenly hit the wrong classification yesterday on some of the courses, but when it became 3-4 courses (biostats being classified as math when I definitely called it a bio course, ect.) I realized AACOMAS definitely has been editing my coursework classifications since I hit the button saying I was done adding/editing courses yesterday.

So FYI to all of you applying out there, once you click that button that says you're done with the coursework section, it will be uneditable by you anymore and AACOMAS will start reclassifying courses & matching your courses to your transcript(s).

Maybe this is common knowledge--I just didn't realize they would start looking at my app before I had even clicked the submit button (and I definitely have some app sections unfinished still).

Positive.

Things they definitely changed on mine, for instance:
Biostats (BIOS 40411) => math (I had bio/zoology)
Intro to the American health care system => non-science (I had other science)
Hospice & Palliative care (SC 43350) => non-science ("")
Preparing health professions => non-science ("")
Social concerns seminar => behavioral science (pretty sure I had other non-science)

I'm mostly OK with the changes (most of the above were pass/fail classes & thus don't affect my GPA), but I had a solid A in one of the 3-credit courses and now it's a non-science course. 🙁

When did they receive your transcripts? I'm just curious, they received mine on the 20th.

I have the box checked that states I'm done entering coursework and I can't uncheck it but the edit option is still available for each course and each drop down or box in the row. They might have removed one of my AP courses. My uni counted it twice on my official transcripts and I'm pretty sure I put it on AACOMAS twice so it was just like my transcript.

They didn't take away some of my courses from sgpa topics. I can't tell if they changed anything after they marked my transcript as rec'd earlier this week. Which is good news, gpas didn't go down for me.

Guess this means we'll be verified quickly?

They received mine on the 29th (and I just finished the coursework section yesterday evening). If you clicked the button to be done with that section, I'm sure they've already looked over yours (maybe you classified everything perfectly?).

The only things that were changed were some of the classifications; also, it looks more formal and my university name is associated with each course (when it definitely wasn't before)--that is, the uni name is prior to the name of each course and the whole thing looks more like a real transcript.

I can't edit any of my courses now (like, not at all--can't even add another course. So glad I didn't make any mistakes before I clicked that button now!!).

Also, speaking of verified, on the home page of the app, I have this message on the right-hand side of the screen:

AACOMAS Status
Current: Verified.
Release dates appear next to schools.

???? I mean, I haven't even finished the app yet, much less have the ability to hit the submit button....guess they mean my transcript is verified??

Guess these are all good things, though--it foreshadows fast processing once the submit button is available.

I honestly can't tell, I have a feeling my sci GPA dropped .02. But I could care less about that seeing how it's so small. But I honestly can't tell if they touched it or not.

That's odd cause underneath it, it says it won't be verified until you pay and all things are complete. But I think I have heard of ppl's apps being verified before sending them in. I think Brakk or somebody mentioned it.

You didn't apply last year, and are now looking at the 2013 application right? Not sure how you could be verified without submitting anything yet.

Does that section of the app look any different to you? Cause it definitely looks different to me when I click on "colleges and coursework" than when I hit the done button yesterday.

No, definitely didn't apply last year and am looking at the new app. That's why I'm so confused. I'm assuming they mean my transcript is verified or something, cause I definitely haven't finished the rest of the app (it even says 8/11 steps complete under application process...)

EDIT: This is what's on my home screen:

Hmmm, well I guess you're lucky enough to have your app verified already haha.

Haha, I guess so. It doesn't make any sense (it even says "the verification process will begin when all checklist boxes are marked"!)...but I'll go with it, I guess?

Also, does anyone else have this greyed out pay & submit button? (I hope this button is normal, at least)

Hovering my cursor over it says "complete all sections and select at least one medical school".

I swear, that verified thing is making me paranoid that weird things have happened to my app already...

Pretty sure you're right, I noticed this last week. I got a message saying to correct a class and it sounded like they were going over it as soon as they received it.

Also, I can't enter or edit any more coursework so it seems like they've completely finished it.

Yeah Pay & Submit is grayed out for us normal folk. Maybe they think you're an osteopathic prodigy and are therefore expediting you through the process out of respect for your greatness.

Wups, never mind. Thought he was special.. 🙁

This whole thread is full of wtf.

I still can't submit or verify anything till june 3rd.

They are going to get SLAMMED next week. Why wouldn't they start going through submitted sections, especially of those who submitted transcripts already?

Oh good! That makes me feel better that they're doing this to other apps too (nope, I am not a special snowflake, UCFMD, lol).

It's very impressive they're going over things so fast; makes me happier with the whole process.

@Anicetus: I doubt I can submit already--and even if I could, I still haven't entered my PS or activities yet so my app would be missing a lot. I have no idea why AACOMAS has marked my app as verified already.

My status does not say verified yet...and my 'Pay and Submit' button isn't grayed out. 😕 I'm afraid to click on it. 😛

Sounds like you're the special snowflake, in that case, haha. Have you finished all of the sections on your app?

I clicked it. It just brings you to a screen that says you can't submit it till June 3rd.

I'm always the one to walk down the dark hallway first, aint i.

ha I did the same before reading the rest of these new posts. So noon ET on Monday eh? Best enjoy the weekend

I'm pretty sure that's what it said when I hit the pay and submit button. Give it a shot and see what it tells you

Ah, good to know; thanks! Will try to have my app completed by then (just need activities & PS entered)--would be interested to see how fast things go, considering I have that weird verified status right now and all...

Thats the 2 hardest parts haha.

And thats weird, mine hasn't been pre-verified 🙁

lol tell me about it; I tried to somewhat start the activities info today and will work on fixing the descriptions tomorrow...so much tedious work, I want to pull my hair out. (Luckily, though, my resume is very up-to-date and I have a pseudo CV--I can copy/paste from both & edit the descriptions to fit the app standards).

PS written already for AMCAS; just need to edit it down characters for AACOMAS at this point.

See above/the previous page for the picture of my weird verification status; I think it mostly comes from my coursework/transcript verification...maybe. Still have no clue why it's there truly.

Nothing happens when you click "pay and submit." You get a message saying they will allow you to submit at noon on Monday.

FWIW, I can edit my courses still. Not sure who is getting their app verified before they pay for it. Doesn't make sense for them to potentially waste time verifying an app that someone doesn't pay for.

You put intro to American healthcare as a science course? Dude, that's history/ social studies.

This thread sparked my interest and I'm curious as to people's opinion. I'm an athletic training major so a lot of my courses are geared toward the human body. Such classes include Orthopedic Evaluation of the Upper and Lower Extremities, both are separate semester courses. I classified them as non-science because I wasn't sure how AACOMAS would want those done. Anyone with information about how AACOMAS will view those type of classes?

Agreed, those are some shiesty attempted science credits...:eyebrow:

It's classified as a science course at my university, and it's not like we talked about the history behind the system--we talked about healthcare topics, about cardiology and other science topics. It's not like I was trying to pad my science GPA; it was a science course at my university, it's listed as a science course on my transcript--so that's how I classified it.

That's why the aacomas book helps us classify, public health/health etc. are non-science on the list. It supersedes all university classification.

Suppose it just rubs me the wrong way a bit after seeing so many premeds try to game to the system in person: copying down old tests when a prof forbids it, taking aderall they have no script for, going to volunteer gigs to sign in and leave (for hrs) etc. Obviously we all want any advantage we can get in this whole process, but it sucks to see it at the cost of integrity.
Not saying this is you just why I got annoyed...
[rant over] 😳

Either way, it's not that big of a deal and best of luck on your app this year. :luck:

Huh, just checked and it looks like they are being verified early which is awesome. Four neuroscience classes were switched from bio to behavioral science which kind of sucks🙁 Not sure if its worth an appeal though just 2 As and 2 Bs. Also had two stats courses switched from math to behavioral science 😕
