Hi there guys,

My main question is, do the DO schools or the AACOMAS go in-depth to see if you have completed requirements for your bachelor's degree or do they just see that you have completed 90 units (or however many it is) and just leave it at that? My main concern is I have to take 2 social science classes to graduate, but the two classes I am taking also grant science credit as well since they are disease classes. I will be using them as social science classes in order to fulfill my degree and graduate (we do not need to list them down as soc sci but I just told my counselor that they will meet the soc sci gen ed requirement), but I will list them as science in AACOMAS. Is this fine or do adcoms go in depth and see that they fulfilled something else in my undergrad but I listed them as science? Has anyone does this before?

I'm not really getting your question. Do they go in-depth? Yes, in so far as you have to send them your transcripts.

How a class fulfills your graduation requirements at your undergrad is irrelevant to AdComs/AACOMAS/etc

Basically, would they care (by "they", I mean AACOMAS and/or adcoms) if I list my 2 disease courses as science when I used them to fulfill social science requirements at my undergrad? They are taught by the science and society department and fulfill both social science and physical science requirements (you can choose). I am using them for social science to graduate since I was short on social science credits. I will list them in my science gpa though.

They won't care.

And I think you'd list it as Bio/Zoology. Possibly "Other Science".

Bio would be a stretch, and definitely not Zoology. I was thinking "Other Science" myself.

Ohhh so we list it under the bolded words that are in the AACOMAS course classifcation list? Not exactly "pathology" or "immunology"? Those are all there to give you an idea of what courses go under each bolded word in the course classifcations.

You learn something new everyday! THanks guys!

Depends what the course is listed as on your transcript

Sent from my SGH-T999 using SDN Mobile

MedPR- The course is listed as SAS 13-Disease and Society. I don't think they list it as a behavioral science or anything. They only list the name and units (which is 3 in this case).

Just put Other Science and be done with it. If you're really that hesitant, then contact AACOMAS.

Yes. This will all become clear when you actually start entering classes into the system.

This.
Are you just filling out the AACOMAS for this cycle now? You may want to re-think and wait until the next cycle. Very late in the year now. Good luck!

No I am not applying until 2 years from now. Never hurts to start preparing though.

The last part was a little sarcasm btw... This process is going to be a B**CH

The guy wanted to list it under pathology. If he still wants to try it, path falls under Bio/Zoology according to AACOMAS.

As long as you have your Bachelor's and your pre-reqs completed, they don't care how x, y, or z class was applied to your degree.

YOu might be in trouble. When I see your coursework, Biology classes are listed as "Biology; orgo is "Chemistry"; Physics is "Physics" and anything else is listed of "other science" or "non-science".

What I don't understand is how can you go your entire undergrad and not have social sciences. Didn't you take psychology? History? Sociology? Surely not all science classes??

Goro. Please check your PM 🙂

Does anybody know how AP credit for behavioral classes(AP psych with a 4) and English (AP Comprehension, 4 as well) are looked upon by adcoms??
