AACOMAS changed my course classifations

Two of my English classes were listed in different apartments at my university (Art History and Asian American Studies), and AACOMAS classified them as Art History and Ethnic Studies.

Should I contact them about this? Or should I just not worry and assign them as English courses for each school I apply to?

I fail to see how classes taught by an art history and Asian American studies department can be English classes. Can you elaborate on what the class title and give a very quick description of what each class is? At face value I can see how they got misclassified.

Guidelines for Reading and Composition Courses

• In order to provide a solid foundation in reading, writing and critical thinking for work in the major, the College requires two semesters of lower division work in composition—Reading and Composition (R&C), parts A and B, in sequential order.
• All undergraduates must complete the Reading and Composition (R&C) requirement by the end of their fourth semester, or their enrollment will be blocked for the following semester.

How do mechanisms of perception structure responses to visual art? What is at stake when words describe images? By means of intensive looking, thinking, speaking, and writing, this course introduces the student to a series of problems and issues in the description and analysis of works of art. Because the course is also an introduction to the historical study of art, it is intended for students with no previous course work in the field. Satisfies the second half of the Reading and Composition requirement.

One of my graduate level courses got changed to a post-bacc designation. Why, I'm not really sure as my official transcript labels it as a graduate level course. I called them, said they would send an email to whoever can change my transcript, and it would take 2-3 business days. Nothing has changed on my application yet though.

So your school doesn't have an English department? Or did you take these classes to satisfy your English GE requirement in lieu of English I/English II types classes?

Either way it should work. I was in a school that used the quarter system so I took 2 quarters of general English and needed like 1 credit to meet the minimum (got shafted by quarter to semester unit conversions) so I used a communications class to fill the gap. Worst case scenario, you just select those as meeting your English requirement for each school, and you'll probably be fine, especially given the course descriptions. I would also call up a school and ask their input, just to clarify that it won't be an issue.

Maybe you should try emailing from the application portal? I'll let you know if I receive an email from them; it said I should expect one in a couple of business days.

English I/II are the R&C courses I took. The subject matter was English but the content was focused on Art History and Asian American literary works.

I think I'll be fine, though, as I'm sure many other Berkeley people have been through this before, but I will just go ahead and select those two as meeting the English requirement. Do you think I should mention this in my secondaries?
