Okay.

So Im going to try and explain this in a concise manner.

I was waiting on one LOR from a DO I worked with. He agreed to write me one.. I reminded him a few weeks later and he said he would do it.. Its now a few weeks after THAT and he has yet to write me one.

Needless to say, he doesn't reply to my emails anymore and I feel like I am just being annoying..

Now here is where I stand... I have been verified by AACOMAS .. Can I ask another doctor to write me a LOR and add it to my application after being verified/having my application sent to schools? Moreover, can I remove the other pending LOR from my application.

Sorry if this is confusing. I am honestly confused myself.. and anxious..

I had the same issue with my DO writer. Didn't respond to two of my emails. I ended up calling the office and asking if everything was still good. He was really apologetic and would send it out soon. I think physicians are even worse at responding to emails than professors.

Was the DO you shadowed pretty enthusiastic about writing your LOR, or was a little hesitant? I think that says a lot.

No sure about your AACOMAS question though. I know you can add LOR's not certain about removing pending one's though.

And by the way I was super ****ing anxious when my DO wasn't responding to my emails, assuming he just bailed on me and I'd be screwed. I would call your doc/his office and ask if he can talk or ask if he can respond to your email. Also ask if he still feels comfortable writing you a strong LOR.

When I asked him, he said sure and to send him my CV with GPA and stuff I wanted in the letter.

He made it seem like it was not a big deal.

All my other letters are strong. I asked him knowing it would likely be a generic letter.. However, I feel like a lot of school's want a physician letter.
I have other MDs I can ask... I just want to make sure the schools that have/will receive my application get the new LOR and disregard the pending one.

You can add more evaluations after submitting the primary, you just can't edit the ones already entered

I had a similar event. My DO told me she would be delighted to write a LOR. Of course, she didn't do it right away. 2 months had passed, and I was still waiting anxiously. I took it upon myself and drove 40 minutes to the office, before it opened. I waited for the office manager and/or physician. I already had my thank- you letters and gifts in my hand.

Mission Complete: Obtained LOR 2 weeks later.

Go to your local pre-med adviser for your next mission
