If I plan to continue an activity till summer of 2015, should I put that as my end date?

Thanks. And another question. Do I have to include both average weekly hours and total hours for all activities? For instance, I shadowed a doctor for 80 hours total spread across 1 year, 50 weeks. If I put an average weekly hour, it will be 80/50 = 1.8 something. Can I just put a total hour count of 80?

I don't think I used both, I used whichever metric was most relevant to the activity.

No you should not. For all work and EC experiences you put only until the current date. Its funny that I cannot find the exact source via AACOMAS, but every source I have ever heard from (minus LChristmas) has said to only put up until your current time. Who knows, you could be fired, quit, stop showing up, all sorts of stuff... Even in the application itself it says "if current leave blank" for the end date stuff. I would not put in future work.

As for your second question, I put some random average number and then in the space provided I said something along the lines of "X amount of hours a week for this Dr. over X amounts of weeks" and then gave my total.

Thanks. I will contact AACOMAS and hear what they have to say.

Absolutely!

And btw, did your app get verified? How did those science lecture/lab section things go?
Yup verified. I have received secondaries from 7/10 schools so far (to my absolute amazement). So far the lecture/lab thing has not seemed to have caused any issue. All of the requirements for all of the schools seem to have been met (at least how it appears on the application sent to the schools).

Did the individual schools explicitly tell you that their requirements have been all met? Or does receiving a secondary from them indicate the fulfillment of all requirements? Also, do DO schools screen for secondaries?

So on your application, once it is sent to the schools you can view your actual application via the "view" button on the AACOMAS home page. Each one looks very similar (they even download with the same name) but if you look closely, deep inside the application (for me its on page 7/12) there is what is called a "pre-requisite report." Here they say how many credits for each type of course they need and whether you hit that requirement and the grades for the courses that contribute to that requirement.

And yes almost all DO schools that I know of screen. About half screen at a 3.0 gpa and half screen at a 3.2 gpa. I am pretty sure a couple screen at 2.8 but the number of schools at the 2.8 range is dwindling with the increased number of applicants over the past few years. I am not sure about the MCAT but I imagine it is somewhere around the 23/24 range. I am pretty average so needless to say I am humbly surprised and pleased by the love so far.

I assume that these are overall and science GPA, right?

Yea, I dont know what the case is if for instance your cgpa is like 3.3 but your sgpa is like 3.1 (and they screen at 3.2). Thats a weird pickle. At that point I would just apply for kicks to see what happens. Even to schools where I am barely under the cutoff or their "suggested" cutoff, I would still apply just for kicks, you never know what kind of stuff they are doing behind the curtain.

I see. And the cutoff is always your overall GPA and overall science GPA of all courses, right? There is no "pre-req" GPA that factors into screening, right?

I have a 3.6 cGPA and 3.33 sGPA (unverified AACOMAS currently shows), but my MCAT is a 33.

However, I never calculated my "pre-req" GPA, so I am a bit concerned.

As far as I know its cGPA and sGPA, but again thats starting to get into uncharted territory where one simply does not know what goes on behind the scenes. I do know they absolutely take your pre-req grades and gpa into account and it actually has decent weight to your application; however, I do not think it is used to screen. I have never heard of that at least... as far as I know its the cGPA and sGPA and MCAT and thats about it...

Dude you are so solid its scary. Take your pick of whichever school you want. I bet you could apply to just 4 or 5 schools and get in somewhere. I mean if you have the money and time apply to more for safety haha, but statistically speaking your scores will not only NOT be screened out at any DO school in the country, you are competitive for just about every DO school in the country.

I am applying to about 10 DO schools.

@Awesome Sauceome
Do the individual schools determine which course fits the prerequisite, or does AACOMAS assign courses that fit the prerequisites?

Honestly I am not sure exactly, I think the schools submit their requirements to AACOMAS and then AACOMAS will specify whether you met it or not. If you look at the application its very easy to miss, but each school has slightly different pre-req pages on your applications.
