Is AACOMAS grade recalculation automatic, as in I don't have to do anything on my part besides submit transcripts and AACOMAS does all the work for me?

You have to classify courses as repeat and mark the original attempt in a certain way as well. After you submit your application, AACOMAS will verify your coursework. You can also use their professional transcript entry service, which is done after you submit your app.
