I was not the brightest person six years ago when I enrolled in a class and did no do any work for. Of course when you do this the institution awards you with an F. How does it work if I already submitted my application but am retaking a class over the summer? Will they update it on the application once transcripts are received. It changes my cGPA from a 3.19 to 3.3 if I get an A and my sGPA from a 3.17 to a 3.46. Please help!

You will need to send an updated transcript from your school once the course(s) are finished and aacomas will code it themselves as well as re-calculate your gpas. They will then send a new application out to the schools to which you applied.

Will it cost me money for them to send it back out?

aacomas won't charge you again to update and re-send. Hopefully your school does free transcript mailing. otherwise, should be cheap if not free.

your GPA gets a 0.2 and 0.3 boost just from one grade replacement? that's awesome!

Is that true? Are you guys sure about this? I heard that they don't do that, and you have to send an updated transcript to every school you applied to yourself.
Can anyone confirm this, please!

I am pretty sure AACOMAS will update it for you if you send in updated transcripts and send a revised application back out to the schools you applied to. It would be a good idea to forward those updated grades directly to the school as well for a file update since the process of sending a transcript in, waiting for AACOMAS to update, and then send on a Tuesday may take awhile.

Someone correct me if this is wrong.

Thanks for the quick response 👍

bump... is this still the policy? does anyone really know?

currently taking a summer class at a different university from where I did my undergraduate degree. I want to submit my app in june but i have heard that if i submit before i get the grade for my summer class, AACOMAS will NOT do grade replacement since it is at a different school... confirm or deny??

@MAF3 I am in the same boat and I'm pretty sure that the policy you just mentioned is correct! So I am waiting until August to submit.

im hearing mixed things tho... some people @AACOMAS say it doesn't matter. applying after summer grades put us late in the cycle, especially if its the second summer session.

They do not forward updated applications. The schools would need to know an updated application is there and have to go in and get it again due to the new service they are using. Some schools may do this but others may find it too much work to have to go in and get it again. It is best to have everything set in stone the first time or your #1 school may not get all the information. Apparently this new service they use has been a big issue all last year. Maybe some other can chime in here about issues. Hopefully they have more of their act together this time around.

One school (may have been PCOM) last cycle told me that the app gets redownloaded automatically to their school after a week or so of updating it on acomas but I definitely recommend reaching out to all the schools a bit after an update and let them know that they should "look for" the new information.

In regards to grade replacement, the consensus is that if your retaking a class at a different university, the class has to be done and the transcript available before you submit or else acomas will average the grades not replace them. If you do it yourself before you apply, you can replace.
Also, if you're doing this, make sure to start a new app and not bring over the app from last cycle if you applied before.
