So I was planning to send in my application soon (I just got my MCAT score back) but I didn't do well on the MCAT and am thinking of retaking it in January. If I retake the MCAT in January will they still review my application once its verified or wait until my January score? Or if I don't mark that I'm going to retake it and then notify them later will they review it once its been verified and then review it again after I send them my new score in February?

I feel that my GPA and extracurriculars are strong and it's mainly my MCAT score that is bringing me down. I also did worse the second time I took it so I'm not sure how bad that looks ><

As long as you state in your primary that you are retaking then most schools will hold your app.

January is quite far in the cycle so you might be shooting for the wait list as supposed to an immediate acceptance even after the retake.

Is it better to mark that I'm retaking the MCAT or just not mark it so that they don't wait to review my application? I think my current score might be ok for some schools so I don't want to risk having them wait on my application until february.

If I do mark that I'm retaking do schools still look over it and could i still get an interview if I'm good enough? Or will they definitely wait until my new score comes out?
On the other hand, if I don't mark that I'm retaking it and get rejections....can I tell them that I'm planning to retake it in hopes that they review my application again?

same situation. i took exam in july and did not do well so rescheduled for october. i did not put that i was retaking it because i want to see if i can get in with what i have. i will also send primaries to more schools after i get the second score if appropriate. i dont know how each school works but i think if you mark that you are going to retake it they will hold the app...but since you never really know unless you call admissions, i just did not put it.

if you are applying allopathic as well most schools don't consider any mcats past september.
