i was looking for opinions on the following scenario:

my aacomas primary is already in and verified. i have an mcat score uploaded that i am happy with.

recently, i retook the mcat to try to get an even better score and my application is flagged saying anothing score is coming (but like i said, one decent score is already in). lets say, hypothetically speaking, i receive my most recent mcat and am not happy with it. am i obligated to upload it to the aacomas site?

i know with amcas all scores are automatically uploaded and you have no choice. but with aacomas you need to go into aamc and give special permission to have your scores sent out. at this point, since i already have a score.. and it is one that i believe with get me into do schools, am i breaking some serious aacomas rules by not uploading an even more recent score? would it be okay for me to just unflag the fact that a score is coming and keep my application as is without updating?

i'm wondering what the rules are on this..

do schools have a way of going into my aamc account and looking at all my mcat scores without my permission to release scores? i think it's an iffy topic, because i'm not exactly doing anything fradulent..

at this point for all i know this most recent score may be even better and i'd want them to see it but i don't know.

thank you.

Send it. Schools will need to get your official score from AAMC when you matriculate. Its best not to have any surprises. Theoretically they could revoke your acceptance. Don't chance it, jsut update it when you get it.

That's a very gray area that I could never quite figure out, but I think DBDan is right, they will most likely request all your scores and surprises are not something you want at this point. If they feel like you withheld your score I'm sure they could recind your acceptance. Don't chance it. Just my take though.

yes you have a good point. if i do have to eventually send it to them anyway then it is definitely a very bad idea to withold it as that may cause serious problems later on.

i guess my question would be more appropriate if i were to ask if i'd ever have to send them that score or not?

why/how do i have to send it to them when i matriculate?

You should read each schools policy. I was in your same spot about a week ago. Just trust that your new test went well and try not to worry too much about it. If you studied hard you should be fine. This scenario will most likely be a non issue when you get your scores.

Good luck. 😉

Thats exactly what happened to me. My second mcat was lower than my first. I decided just to be honest and submit my second score. You don't want this to be something you have to worry about until the day you officially begin classes.

Hi there MightyMoose. I'm in the exact position as you. I just sent my mcat score to AACOMAS. Its the same score I got the first time around just a tad bit lower on the writing section (I really did a great job on the AAMC practice getting like 34's but oh well). So what happens next, do I now have to update each school or do I just send it to AACOMAS?

Nothing more frustrating than that. When I told my brother that I got the same score he just started laughing hysterically... Nice guy... :lame:

I just logged into the THx website and sent my scores to AACOMAS. AACOMAS already has them listed and received, so I'm guessing they will take care of all the updates when they go out next week.

Good luck!
