AACOMAS misclassified a course, now missing a prereq

Has anyone had experiences with AACOMAS misclassifying a course? I took a course in the sociology department at my school (called Demography and Public Health) that I was planning on using for the behavioral science requirement at most schools, but AACOMAS called this course a public health course. I've called several schools so far and most were fine with this course being used to fulfill the behavioral science prerequisite. The only school (that I've spoken to) that won't accept the class because it was not classified as behavioral science by AACOMAS is UNECOM (a school I am really, really interested in attending).

Any advice on what to do in the scenario?
You didn't take psych or anthro to fulfill gen ed?

If UNECOM is high on your list, take an intro sociology/psych course at a cc somewhere and be done with it.

This wont affect your chances of acceptance. If you are accepted, just take the course, if not, well, you don't need to take it.

So, if I haven't finished their prerequisite requirements, they will still accept me on the condition that I complete the course? All prereq coursework has to be completed by Jan 1 2019 to be considered for UNECOM, so I'm not sure that will work.

Sounds like it's time to take another course this fall then

When I applied last cycle I was interviewed at all osteopathic schools before September and received all decisions by November. However I submitted primaries and secondaries the first day I could. If you did the same, you may know your decision with UNECOM early enough ..

I'm in a similar situation. I took Public Health and Society that's managed by the school's sociology department, so the department prefix is "SOC" but AACOMAS does not list public health under "behavioral and social sciences." Of the schools I applied to, only RVUCOM requires 6 credit hours of behavioral and social sciences. Besides public health I've only taken general psychology, and if public health doesn't satisfy their requirement, I'll be one prereq short. I hope they take it.

Clearly a little late to the game here but in case this question comes up later. My 2 cents, when I applied to MSUCOM they required a sociology course and I didn't have one at the time, I just took an online one at our community college and it was fine. For those minor non heavy science classes, cc credits are fine assuming the rest of your resume is strong. Good luck!

If you can't get into a cc course, I would look specifically into UNE's at your own pace online courses and see if they have sociology. I don't have any background knowledge on these courses, but pretty sure you can sign up whenever you want (and I would be shocked if UNECOM didn't accept their own university's course haha).

Update: got an II from RVUCOM on 11/9, and no notice about being deficient in requirements. I assume that in my case, taking general psychology and public health satisfied their 6 hours of behavioral and social sciences.
