Is it just me or does the personal statement now allow for 5300 characters, now matching the AAMC.

Does this make it easier for MD applicants to apply DO?

You think 800 characters held back people from applying to begin with?

Not in particular, I'm just trying to spark a discussion. In reality I'm quite indifferent since I was ate the point where I would have had to cut down my personal statement, which apparently I no longer have to do!

I think the change is minor enough that it doesn't cause a change either way. It seems like the count went up to make it easier for people who were applying to both regardless.

That certainly looks to be the case! I'm glad you pointed that out...I totally missed that when I glossed over the application today. It will certainly help me with my PS, but n=1.

DO's and MD's are moving to a singular degree IMO in next 20 yrs. DO will just be an additional accreditation.

Makes things easier. BTW do you think our PS between DO and MD should be different? I guess in my DO PS I will talk more about why DO side of medicine.
