Can people please post the processing times for their AAACOM applications, and the date they submitted the application?

I just submitted my application today, and I am wondering if it really takes them 4-6 weeks to process, or if that is simply an overestimate for them to cover their arses.

Should I have bothered applying so late? Applied to 10 osteopathic schools. Got kicked out of undergrad for poor academic performance, came back to a different school, did well, graduated magna cum laude, went on to get my MS, taught for a year, and applying now. VR-10, BS-11, PS-9, WS-R.

Since you're applying kinda late in the cycle it will probably take that long (4-6 weeks) but that's a total guess. I submitted mine in May '05 🙂 . Your MCAT is really good and if your GPA is above a 3.2 for both Sci and Overall you've a good chance of getting in this year. Make sure you send those secondary applications out as soon as you get them. Don't take more than a week to do so! There was a post created at the beginning of the application cycle that has a list of questions found on the secondary application for most DO schools. Start working on those essay now as some can be quite detail. Good luck.

Yes, it took 5 weeks for my app. They're slow. 🙂

yep my application took about 3-4 weeks. I submitted my primary app in august. Who knows how long it will take now. Make sure your transcripts are recieved!! That will hold up your application a loooooong time. I studied abroad and aacomas was waiting on transcripts from the college I went to in Mexico.

i submitted about a week after i got my august mcat scores back and it took for freakin' ever--at least 5 weeks.....my amcas was MUCH faster. Maybe yours will be faster though b/c the big rush is over?

Since no one else seems to be saying it, I will: Yikes, you're late!

Why are you applying so late?

I'm not sure that even with a 3.8+ and 33+ anyone here could tell you you're guaranteed an interview/acceptance. I guess go ahead and spend the $$ and see how it pans out, but here's what you're looking at:

Today is 1/2...

+4 weeks (minimum) for AACOMAS (and that's IF they have all your transcripts)
+3 more weeks for schools to process you and send out secondaries
+2 weeks for you to finish and send in secondaries (and that's IF you have all your LORs ready to go out the door)
+4 weeks for them to consider you for an interview.

I think that these are pretty pared down time estimates, so bare minimum you're looking at April before you know about interviews. I'd look at the application deadlines, and you can see that you're cutting it really close. Likely you'll be applying for a waitlist spot. By the time you're sending hearing back about secondaries, it will be almost time for next year's cycle to begin, and you could be starting then, and hitting it REALLY early, and giving yourself a great shot. I would wait and save the money, and give yourself a realistic shot. If you start the process June 1st of next cycle, you'll probably be accepted by September, and I'm not kidding.

I applied late November and my school finally sent my transcripts 3 wks after request! That sounds like bad news... it's been more than a wk since ACOMAS received my transcripts so I guess it's the waiting game!
Anyone know what's average accepted GPA?

Received first invitation for secondary by DMU today, 01/30/06.
Submitted secondary to DMU today, 01/30/06.
Letters to DMU should arrive by Monday, 02/06/06.

I hope I get an interview, and I hope I get more invitations for secondaries soon, esp. from CCOM and Kirksville!

I submitted mine in November and it took a longgggg time to process. It was at least 4-5 weeks if not longer. The good thing is that I've already had one of my DO interviews. Hope that helps!

Mine took about 5 weeks, but it seemed like much longer. Also, keep in mind that it's 4-6 weeks after they receive ALL materials from you, including transcripts; the 4-6 weeks isn't just after you finished your online stuff. It takes them awhile because they compare that classes and grades that you input on your AACOMAS application with your transcripts to make sure that it all matches up, then they make your online profile to send off to schools. And with all the people that are applying....it takes awhile. Just be patient.

My suggestion is to start doing secondary apps of the schools that you have applied to; many have them available online.
