AACOMAS repeat coursework policy?

I have a 3.4 cGPA 3.3 sGPA and have never had to repeat a course. Would this new policy help me in terms of my application?

From my understanding it would be yes because effectively the overall grade replacers that had amazing apps because of grade replacement won't have that advantage anymore and plus the overall avg gpa will be somewhat lower making you a better applicant. Get a really good MCAT score and you probably could be competitive at majority of schools.

In terms of YOUR application? No. Literally nothing changes for you.

With regards to those capitalizing on grade replacement? Yes. The extent to which is dependent entirely on how many retakes a person has.

That being said: schools can use whatever retake policy they'd like to when they look at your application.

Takeaway: The level of competition is exactly the same for you, and your application doesn't change at all with respect to the new policy. The only applicants that will be seriously effected are those that have retaken half of their undergrad coursework and should probably do an SMP now instead.

Yes, the change does slightly help students like you. It's not that your app is any better, it's that seats that would have taken by students heavily relying on grade replacement are now open. Basically the new policy just thinned out the competive applicant pool. I doubt it was by much (2-5% maybe).

It help you if your mcat score is on the lower end. Your competition against major grade replacers would decrease and thus chances increase overall. However, according to the aacomas email major grade replacers are an insignificant portion of the total applicant pool so your increase is very small.
