Does anyone know about how long verification is taking at this time in the season. I realize it depends on when transcripts are received but how long after that is an application released. I am assuming that it will be much quicker considering there are probably very few applications being processed however just wanted to know if I will make the deadline.

I am well aware of the disadvantage of applying late.

If I had to guess--and barring any issues with transcripts--three weeks or so. Mine was done in about a month back in early November.

However... a good chunk of the primary submission dates have passed. Unless you're gunning for one school specifically, you'd probably be better off saving your money for the next cycle. Good luck if you're trying for this one, though. 🙂

Another question: If I submit the application today will that count as meeting the deadlines given the deadlines have not passed. For instance there are a couple of schools with feb 15th deadlines. I have completed my application but just sent my transcript requests today (expedited). If I submit my application today I will have to pay for the schools but will the school accept the application given that I will not be verified until after the deadline.

Basically If the deadline passes while I AACOM is reviewing my app, will I lose that money?

they turned mine around in under a week back in January.

I think you need to have your primary into the schools before the deadline, not be in the verification process. In addition, your chances of getting an acceptance at this point are getting a little slim, even with good stats. That being said, I know there are some who have submitted late and have gotten a seat, but they account for a very small number of applicants. Best route would most likely be to strengthen your app and apply next cycle.

Best of luck.

I know someone who submitted about two weeks ago and was verified the next day.

That's entirely possible, given how late in the cycle it is. On the other hand, if anything goes wrong in the process--a transcript doesn't get sent properly, there's a class that doesn't jive up, or any number of other things--it will take longer. At this point, "taking longer" isn't a realistic option.

And since it's crunch time for these sorts of things, Murphy's Law is in full effect. 🙂

I'm not discouraging the OP from applying... but putting in a primary this late may lead to questions on how committed you are to pursuing a DO degree.

Mine was verified next day back in December, however it had been verified back in august and they rejected it and I didn't get around to resubmitting it until December.
