Hey guys,
I am taking the MCAT in September 2015 and plan on submitting my application in either August, September, or October for the aacomas application. Am I screwed for the chances of even getting an interview?
Please let me know!

Best,

No you aren't but get it in as early as possible. Please edit out your name as I did

Hi DoctorSynthesis,
Thank you so much for letting me know. I can't believe I put my name there. I guess it was force of habit from all the emails I was writing. For the aacomas evaluations/letters of recommendations, can they be submitted after you submit your application? I decided I might as well take a shot in the dark and apply late since all my stats are pretty good other than not taking my MCAT yet and I don't really want to take a gap year.
-My GPA and experiences are good/unique/well-rounded with a sGPA and cGPA at 3.9, was a special needs caregiver, tutor, hospital caregiver, 264 hospital volunteer hours, polynesian club member, and around 20+ hours of shadowing at OMM clinics, family medicine clinics, and outpatient clinics.
I have a few Q's:
- Do you feel that my stats/experiences would give my application weight in the application process despite my MCAT score submission being really late?
- Could I submit my application so that it is in the cycle and then have my letters of recommendations submitted later?
- did you have the transcript process just fill out your classes for you or did you fill it out manually(I feel like I made many mistakes)

Thanks for your response.

Hello Lime,

1) LOR's can be submitted at any time.
2) The stats/exp may not mean zilch to a school because the application will not be reviewed and considered for interview invitation until the application is complete, that means the MCAT must be included. MCAT scores are usually utilized for the primary screen to decide who will receive a secondary application to complete. So it's vital you have everything read. Just how late will your MCAT score arrive?
3) Yes you can submit your application but just as with the MCAT, no LORs means your app does not get the review.
4) I'm not sure I understand your transcript process questions. On AACOMAS you will need to use your transcript grades and input them in manually. If there are any mistakes that are small the AACOMAS staff will correct them. If you made many mistakes your primary app may not even get through processing.

You should wait and get a solid app next year for both MD and DO. Don't go to DO school only because you are interested in certain perspective of osteopathic, MD should always be considered. With your GPA and potentially above average MCAT, you should have a smooth cycle next year. This year I would say don't spend your MCAT time on your Applications. Mcat is a X factor, which you should devote 100% of your time and energy on it. What happen if your MCAT is in 2weeks and you feel you still need more time and you have submitted your AAcomas? I don't know how many people postpone their test but I am very sure over half. If you are confident about your mcat, you should also feel confident that next cycle will offer you an advantage you can't achieve this year: early.
