Hello, friends.

So, what are you guys doing about the AADSAS Academic Update?

I took some classes (that are required for dental school) over the summer, so dental schools still haven't received those grades. Should I do the academic update now and send in just those summer grades, or should I wait until the end of the semester, at which point I can send in both this fall's grades and the summer grades?

If you think your fall grades will increase your GPA, as well as if you are also taking pre-reqs for your ds now, then I would wait to submit until you have both your fall and summer grades.

You are only allowed to update once, so I would wait to include my fall grades as well.

If my spring and fall grades are not great, should I still do the update?? I dont know what to do. I have a 3.5 gpa now and got a c+ in spring human anatomy and have never received a c before and my fall grades might be low B's as well (submitted aadsas before spring grades were out)....... I know it will hurt my chances but I dont know what to do!!! Will it look worse if I update and take responsibility or if I dont and it looks like I tried to hide it?? I have already interviewed at a couple schools and have 2 more coming up.... Advice??

I could also update just spring if I do it now or wait and do spring and fall grades.... AAAHHH!!! I am freaking out!

You are going to have to report your grades anyways at some point.
Maybe do academic update after you get an acceptance? lol...

A couple of schools waited to receive my update before giving me interviews (one actually called me to ask me where it was). I subsequently was accepted to those schools.

Did your update include required courses or do they expect everyone to update?

I have been accepted at 2 schools so far but still have an interview in January and have to hear back from a few other schools. But this semester will be my first one with a B so if I can not update it I would definitely choose to not do so.

Anyone with info about that?

Nah, in my case, it was because i was a non-trad student, so they wanted to see me build a longer track record. I've kind of assumed that everyone was expected to update, but it sounds as though that may not be the case anymore (or ever.) 😕

This is a good question. If the update is less than steller (string of B's and a few B+) do we need to update? Will it impact the schools decision if one does not do the update? The ironic thing is that I feel the flying around and working extra shifts to afford the process has really effected the amount of time I had to spend on studying - resulting in a less than stellar term.

I know what you mean, definitely busier this semester with traveling to interviews and everything that goes along with it. And lets be honest, when we know their initial decisions won't be based on this semester's grades motivation to study goes way down 😀

I'm sitting here studying for a biochem final knowing I could literally get a 50 and still get a B in the course, and even a C in the course wouldn't result in any adverse consequences....how do I study knowing that?? lol
