Is there any harm in opening at AADSAS application even though I'm not applying until the next cycle (start June 2012) ??? I wanted to see some of the questions they ask and kinda begin to formulate my answers. I thought it would be a good way for me to really think about the questions they ask and answer them without rushing or being caught off guard by anything.

Advice anyone on this idea ???

Thanks

nope - i did the same thing. i saw how many spots there were for each section and if i couldnt have filled something, i did it during my senior year. i think i had 9 solid EC's before my senior year, so then i added one more my senior year to fill it out.

also, if you are taking the DAT soon or already have, the DAT will get put into your application now. next year, when you actually apply, the DAT score will already be there. saved me a lot of hassle - people were worried about their DAT scores showing up, but mine had already been there for like 8 months!

good luck!

I don't know if I did something wrong, but I did that last year and when June 1 rolled along my profile got deleted. So it's a good idea to have it to preview the questions, but save anything you fill out elsewhere on your computer just in case.

AADSAS doesn't ask any "questions" just background information, like age, date of birth, courses you have taken etc. Nothing you need to "plan ahead" for.

As for Woof, if you only did it the year before you applied, for less than a year, how is that solid?
We can all come up with activities/ECs we have done for an hour and put it down. It's only meaningful ECs, and ones that show character, or manual dexterity, or whatever the ADCOMS are looking for that are going to help you, not filling in all the spaces. With that said, I hope that activities you do put down, you are ready to talk about in details because sometimes, the interviewer has the same hobby and will ask about it. If you stumble and mumble and can't figure out what to say... well...

i created a scholarship with my friends from home for low income students at my high school. boom roasted.

Haha, yes. I am super super jealous. I feel so roasted because I don't even watch The Office...

The point of my previous post was not an attack towards you, just pointing out how a lot of people think filling up every space is what the ADCOMS want, and that is just not true. ADCOMS look at quality over quantity for ECs. As for volunteer hours and shadowing... we have the opposite because they don't want to say one type of volunteering is not good of "quality" as another form of volunteering. Anyway, not the point.

i think this is a good idea, especially if you have no clue about the application or what it entails. for instance, if you lived under a rock and didn't know that you needed rec's in order to apply, you wouldn't want to wait until next june to start rounding up letters.

i started an aadsas account early to poke around and see what types of questions were being asked...being a non-trad i think it helped that i got a jump start on compiling my EC's (with correct dates!!) and getting transcripts together. i don't know anyone personally who has successfully gained admission to dental school (recently) so it definitely helped to start early.
