AADSAS Date

This has probably been asked before, but...

I've always heard that the date AADSAS opens is May 15th, but upon checking this years AADSAS site it says that June 1st is when the 2010 Application cycle begins.

Am I just getting things mixed up here? Or does it change from year to year?

Usually the application becomes available to you on May 15, but you can't submit it until June 1. Not sure if that changed this year, but that's how it has been in the past.

^^ No that's wrong, in previous years the cycle started May 15th and you could submit anytime (many people did).

They just changed it this year to open on June 1st which is why some people are confused. And yes you can submit right away there is no '2 week waiting period' that AADSAS enforces (why would they do that? I never understood why people though you had to wait to hit submit. The button is there, you can click it right away if you want to).

For me, the confusion is between sending out the transcripts and everything. You need AADSAS to verify the transcripts so you can't send those out until June 1st. You can hit submit June 1st, but your application is not complete until after they receive the transcripts.

I think what they mean is you can hit submit May 15 but remember they were not mailing things out until June 1 this last cycle. There was no two week waiting period to hit the button but AADSAS did not do anything until June 1 anyway. So now it looks like they just moved it to June 1 so they will start mailing things right away.

No, that is also incorrect. AADSAS was doing something: verifying your transcripts, that's what causes the wait time between hitting submit and mailing out. So even though they moved the open date to June first it will still take the same amount of time for the people to go through a make sure that you submitted your grades properly. So now when you hit submit June 1st you'll have to wait around 2 weeks after that for stuff to mail out because they will start verifying transcripts at that point. It really doesn't matter though, most school said that they just let the applications sit there until july/aug and start looking at them. (At least when I called and asked about my status)

By the way: the reason people say to submit early is because the earlier you submit in the cycle the shorter the wait for your verification takes. In the beginning it's around 2 weeks, as the cycle picks up and more people send it in it starts to take closer to a month.

Right just keep June 1st as your magic date, that's when it all starts this year. Your application won't get sent out until they receive the transcripts that is true, but you can get your matching form as soon as you open your application. It's good to request it ASAP because it usually takes a university a couple of business days to get your transcript and then send it out. Basically don't try to send anything until you start your application and have a number they can match it to 👍.

Yea when you open it up, it explains how to print off the matching form (with the barcode they scan to know who you are) and where to send everything. There are different addresses on where to send your transcript vs. your LOR so watch for that so that stuff doesn't get held up unnecessarily. Seriously though, if you are getting all this stuff ready now you can probably take a breather. Just focus on your PS and DAT (if you haven't written it already) and you'll be good to go come June 1st.

what's up with ppl saying that in the past you could fill out but not submit til June 1st? that was never the case. you could fill out and submit anytime after may 15th in the past but starting this year, they are pushing that date to June 1st.

so you can only start filling out after june 1st and you can always submit whenever application is open.

Bottom line is, regardless of AADSAS policies changing, get your app. in as close to June 1 as possible and don't worry about it! Best wishes!!!

Just got off the phone with customer service, the date has shifted from May 15th to June 1st...
