Would it really hurt my admissions chances if I answer YES to the question on the AADSAS application background question which asks "Have you previously, or are you currently applying to a health profession school other than dental school?" ????

Can SOMEONE who is currenly accepted to a Dental school and who answered YES to the above question tell me whether they really gave you a hard time on the interview because of this?

How terrible is it to have applied to med school (just one school, just once) before applying to Dental school? I did not get into that med school, but I have realized in the past year that I really do want to go to dent instead of med for a variety of reasons. But will saying YES to that question hinder my chances greatly?

This is your second post relating to whether or not it is ethical (your asking if it's ok to lie) to be dishonest in the aadsas application.

i.e. I am just wondering if anyone here can tell me how AADSAS or the dental schools verify whether the information you provide regarding EC, work, research experience you completed, is accurate? How can they verify the # of hours you claim for some activity?

I think you can answer these questions yourself. It all comes out in the wash. Admissions comittees will find out. Be honest, answer for you own application and your own stats because they are yours. You came this far, it must say something about you. Be honest in your app, stand behind the decisions you maid (i.e. switching from med to dental). Other wise it's going to catch up with you and you will never get in.

Yes I can answer SOME of the questions I have asked here myself. I asked them to get others opinions and start a discussion. Although I appreciate your input, you seem to have misunderstood my stance on all this and interpreted my questions very immaturely. I have never lied on any application and dont intend to. In fact I mentioned how uncomfortable lying on something so important would make me feel.

I NEVER ASKED ABOUT HOW ETHICAL OR UNETHICAL dishonesty would be since it is very clear (to me at least) that it is unethical - hence, I am never dishonest. The last thing I require from anyone here is a lesson in ethics and morality. My first question was show AADSAS verifies applicants information just for my own curiousity, since previous applications I have completed have required further information for verification purposes. It was just a surprise to me that AADSAS did not require the further verification. And as for my second posting, I want to know how badly my application will be affected (if at all) when I answer YES to the stated question. I was not contemplating to be dishonest.

Its both funny and a little demeaning how you can turn around two innocent queries into a little lesson in honesty. That was not required- I have been raised with more-than-adequate values and ethics.

the fact that you applied to med school won't affect you that much.
i have openly talked and written about my being pre-med prior to choosing dentistry. and yes, they appreciated my honesty and many schools accepted me.

but driller23, your two posts DO seem like you were attempting to be dishonest. and your lengthy, might i add emotionally-charged response, only further confirms for me of that suspicion.

all of us have had that PASSING THOUGHT about if and how AADSAS verifies any of our information aside from our grades (b/c they get our transcripts) but the fact that you ASKED those questions so publicly (and with a certain sense of desperation) as if looking for some sort of support made me draw similar conclusions as klfb80.

and please don't say crap like "I AM NEVER DISHONEST." that's like saying you never lied in your life. only habitual liars (those who got accused of lying alot in their lives) respond like that.

Hahaha...ok.
SDN can be informative and entertaining. Suspect all you want. Thank you very much on your input. Best of luck to you and to me and to every other honest person.

Driller simply asked, albeit indirectly, if it would hurt his chances if he previously applied to medical school. Driller never asked about lying or anything of the sort.

Driller... if you applied to one medical school back in the day, it still might come up during the interview. You will need to have a valid explanation as to why you decided to switch to dentistry and if you are sincere about your desire to become a dentist, it won't be a problem at all.

tinman beat it. Nobody asked for you to come to the rescue.

First bold : Nobody wants to have a discussion about dishonesty and I can assure you that we all have the same opinion: "don't do it"

Second bold: I'm not acussing you of lying and I am sorry if you feel that way. However, you are a little suspect for asking the ? otherwise why else would you ask? If you feel uncomfortable why would you ask?

Third bold: You did ask, just in a round about way. If you don't believe me find the posts and reread them.

Fourth bold: You should just assume that aadsas or the school at some point will verify this information. People who are honest never worry about ?'s like this. If your honest, which i am sure you are cause you "never lie", then you will be assured that you won't have any problems.

Oh, by the way. I do lie. In fact all the time. Just not on applications. And there little white lies so not to bad.

Final bold: Sorry if your offended, that was not my intention but I DIDN'T THINK IT WAS SUCH AN INNOCENT POST!

Now we can be friends again. PM me if you have any questions about you application.
