Hi all.
I am vascillating back and forth on what to do about my AADSAS application timeline. I can only take the DAT in November since I am Canadian..and I'd only get my scores around Dec. 1st. My question is, should I send in my AADSAS pretty soon or wait until late December/early January when I will have my DAT scores, some more extracurricular stuff to put on and my updated GPA. The problem is my GPA now is only 3.22 while my science is 2.98..after this Fall semester I expect it to be at least a 3.34 with science around 3.08. I've spoken to some schools who basically told me my current GPA would be the one gauged..and not so much my updated GPA. I'd love to send it in late with the better GPA and already knowing my DAT scores..but is late December/early January simply too late in terms of being at a big disadvantage on the rolling basis factor? Tough call for me..any help would be greatly appreciated. ( I'd be only applying to those schools with the March 1st deadlines btw )

Yes, submitting your application in December is a little too late. Don't forget you will have to give about a month for AADSAS to process and application and then send it to the schools. Schools will start sending acceptance letters on December 1st so you will basically competing for the remaining spots (which won't be a lot by the time you get done with your interviews). I seriously suggest that you should take the DAT in a month or so if you can in the states (American DAT) as you can go and take the DAT basically Mon-Sat every week and submit your appliation ASAP and fax in your American DAT as soon as you get your score (which is right after the test).

I am afraid with your GPA (current or updated), if you apply in December you will have a very slim hope of getting in for the 2005 class.

You can find information for the American DAT (including online registration and list of testing centers in U.S.) here:

Thanks for the reply man. Actually 2 of my friends applied in early December last year and it wasn't a problem at all. One is in Columbia now while the other is at Tufts. Both their GPA's were around B+ range..decent DAT scores (18-20).

You think I should just send in my aadsas in september? my dat scores won't be forwarded to them until late november anyways. at this point i don't think i want to write the american dat as i have already mastered the soap carving part and would have to learn QR and Organic all over again..something i'd rather avoid. i know..its a bit of an annoying situation. too bad the canadian dats are only offered twice per year here.

Well, you have to expect that the Can. DAT won't be completely processed until end of Nov as I recall you write it near the end of October - early Nov. As well, it will also take the CDA some time to mail out the scores to the schools, esp. if they use 'snail mail' crossing to the U.S. Expect 1.5 weeks for delivery (they don't allow faxing the scores).

Good Luck fellow Canadian
