The AADSAS Client is the ADEA-endorsed tool for schools to generate reports and keep track of all applicants. Check out this page to see the different types of reports that schools can run on you:

http://www.academicmanagement.com/admit2007/Aclient_pages/AClient_reports.htm

Here's something interesting: undergraduate school rankings:

http://www.academicmanagement.com/a...s/Complete List of Schools (with Ranking).pdf

Lastly, here is one of their selling points:

"Graphical Drill-down: Much of the data in AADSAS Client can be displayed as a 'drill-down' graph meaning successive questions can be asked about that data. For example, you might choose to build a graph that shows applicants from California then, of these, those who are female and, of these, those of Asian descent, and finally display their names."

Makes it easy to find that female Asian from California that you need to fulfill your quotas!

That college ranking is really interesting ... I didn't even look at it before.

Another selling point of interest: "AADSAS Client can export the information required by InfoSource on a weekly basis sending the data via ftp directly to AADSAS."

Could explain why updating seems to happen on Fridays and the confusion of who controls the updates -- AADSAS or the schools.

Crikeys! It's all about the numbers and school statistics. Everything else is just something to talk about in the interview.

What is the scale on the school ranking and is high or low good? What does a zero mean? Who generates the ranking and what are they based on?
Numbers don't mean anything without an explanation.

if you search Harvard, and MIT, you can see that both of these have ranking '1', so i assume, 1 means best 5 means worst, 0 might mean unranked

Based on what criteria? My school gets a 4. What does that mean?

Again, numbers without explanations are useless.

These stats make no sense to me.

How does Ponoma score better than U. Mich???

did you notice they have interview score reports? This means we are, in effect, graded on our interviews on a point system as part of a total applicant score.

that you got beat by BYU again! 2 baby!

j/k

I don't doubt that Byu has a better predental program based on the sheer number of people they put into d school year after year. But what makes them better according to this system?

Maybe it is some geographical system they have in place.

-where BYU is in region 2 and UofU is in region 4.

It literally could be anything or a combination of anythings. Who cares anyway right, most of us are accepted and if not, it is not like you are going change your undergrad school at this point.

Oh well.

It amazes me that there are no fields for evaluating the essay. Isn't that supposed to be a significant portion of the application?

I did find a contact log where the schools track all those "What's my status?" phone calls I've made:

http://www.academicmanagement.com/a...Reports/All Applicants/Contact Log Report.pdf

HAHAH, did you read the bottom of that report?? it gives a scenario... "Father wants to DONATE lots of money to the school" then the school responded with "check to see if students stats are ok"

what the hell? my school is a 2 and Duke is a 1? Those suckers get As for doing nothing. What a joke!!! uhmmmm interesting...Berkley is a 2.

Those school freakin ratings mean NOTHING! WORTHLESS CRAP USED TO SCARE APPLICANTS!

I like the UC's
Berkeley 2
Santa Barbara 2
Davis 2
UCLA 3
San Diego 3
I dont agree with those last two.

I thought you were going to say that AADSAS's inner workings consist manatees that randomly push balls that contain different aspects of all applicants applications from one side of the tank to the other. When they finally push all the balls from one applicant then the applications get sent out to the schools. This would explain their gross inefficiency. South Park anyone?

Yeah, I'm guessing those rankings are pretty meaningless to adcoms. I mean, seriously, my undergrad was a 5 and guess what........ I'm still going to be a dentist just like the guy sitting next to me with no social skills who went to an Ivy League school. I hope nobody lets these rankings influence their decision of whether or not to apply to dental school.

I dont agree with those last two.

Neither do I. At my interview 8 out of about 10 were from either UCLA or UCSD. Ironically, the other two were from Berkeley and Davis (me).
