I thought I had read somewhere that the AADSAS form is changing a bit. As a result of this, do you think the process time will be much better than previous years? Wasn't the process time about 8 weeks from the day you click "send"? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

I haven't taken the DAT and I figure if it really takes 8 weeks, I have 8 weeks extra to study for the DAT. Someone please clear this up.

AADSAS has apparently done away with the course codes, which were used to enter your transcript information, and some other little odds and ends. Will this decrease the turn-around time? Probably not. As far as how long they take to turn an application around it all depends on when it is submitted (early ~ 4 weeks, during peak rush hour ~ 6-8 weeks). As you have found out it is much more important to get your AADSAS application out than to take the the DAT really early.

one more thing...AADSAS is out MID MAY right? i've heard some people saying May 1st?

Thanks! As for AADSAS, I heard it opens up on may 15.

I saw May 18th. But I am going to be checking them out from May 10th. I know its going to be only online application. Will they have a PDF format, or is a special forms page?

To the OP:

I really doubt they are going to be much faster with the new changes. As others have said, applying early is the best thing you can do to decrease turn around time.

did alot of people get burned by applying late?

Let me show you why ADSAS is evil. (actually I'm glad there is ADSAS, because it seems better than the alternative (applying to each school individually), but it can be super frustrating to have to wait for 8 weeks after forking over so much money.)

ADSAS = Time (8 weeks) x Money

Since, as future doctors, our time is money,

ADSAS = Money x Money,

but since we are told by fairly reliable source that money is the root of all evil, we may rearrange and substitute evil for adsas as below:

money = (evil)½ (money is the root of evil- couldn't find a root symbol)

evil = money x money = money x time

Since adsas also equals money x time, we can substitute, getting:

evil = ADSAS, or rearranged for the sake of conversation ADSAS = evil.

As you can tell, I'm not trained in logic or higher math or anything like that, just thought this was funny. a friend of mine gave this "proof" to me freshman year, but substituted girls in place of ADSAS. I think he's still single.

I almost did. I applied late August. Case sent me an interview invite the week after they received my application (mid-October) but the only interview dates were in late February! Thankfully my #1 choice (OHSU) sends out invites later than most schools, so I was still able to get an acceptance on Dec 1.... but if I'd really wanted to go to Case, I would have been interviewing for one of VERY few remaining spots. Apply early!! 👍

What does applying early mean? A lot of people say to apply early but I am not sure what constitutes early. Would sending in application to AADSAS by first week of June be early?

Yes! Early June is more than fine. You just want to get everything in before schools really start looking at applications and sending out secondaries and interview invites... this varies for each school. I would venture to say that June is best, but you won't be in bad shape if you apply in early July either.
