1. On AADSAS, does the research section ask how many hours you worked or the period of time (date-wise) you worked in the lab? I only worked one summer, and I'm unsure whether it will even help my application by much.

2. How many hours (or period of time) do people usually participate in research?

3. Has anyone asked their mentor in the research lab for a letter of recommendation? Would this count as a supplemental letter?

Oh, and also, how does research rank in comparison to other extracurriculars (such as volunteer hours, non-dental work experience, etc.)??

1 summer is better than nothing. I would list it. I think the agreement is to not list it if you only went 1-2 times. Same as for don't list Spanish as a foreign language you speak just because you know "hola" from 1 year of spanish in college.
