I know for those of you who studied abroad, you loved it while you were there, but you're hating it now. Classifying study abroad credits is not as straightforward as the AADSAS website makes it out to be, so I sent an email asking for clarification. For those who are struggling, perhaps this will help you:
In my case, I studied abroad through IES, so I will be listing the coursework within my home school. I understand I'll need to send a transcript from the study abroad company, but does this need to include a transcript matching form as well? Should I use the same form from my home school? Without listing the study abroad coursework as a separate institution, no transcript matching form can be printed for study abroad specifically.
Please contact your registrar to find out whether your credits were granted 1. by your home school; 2. by another US school such as Butler University or Arcadia University; 3. by a US study broad company such as CIEE or IES; or 4. by the Foreign Institution itself.
1. If the credits were granted by your home school, list the coursework under your home school as Study Abroad and send only your home school transcript to ADEA AADSAS.
2. If the credits were granted by another US school, list the coursework under that US school as regular coursework and send that school's transcript to ADEA AADSAS.
3. If the credits were granted by a US study abroad company, list the coursework under your home school. Send the company's transcript to ADEA AADSAS, and it will appear as if a second transcript from your home school has been received. There will actually be one from your home school and one from the company.
4. If the credits were granted by your non-US school, report your non-US school but do not enter any coursework. Do not send your non-US transcript, however, if your dental schools require that you have a foreign transcript evaluation made, you may send that to ADEA AADSAS.
