AADSAS volunteering definition

On the volunteering definition in the handbook it says not to include healthcare related volunteering, so where do we put healthcare volunteering under then?

I have a lot of volunteering with hospice care, so I'm afraid it won't get recognized just because it's healthcare related.

I called AADSAS and the guy I spoke to said to go ahead and put my hospice volunteering under volunteering, and that the phrase on that handbook is mainly to stop people from putting dental office volunteering there instead of putting it along with their shadowing under dental shadowing.

I plan to call again for a second opinion, but what do you guys think? Are you guys still putting volunteering at free clinics or other health events under volunteering? Seems weird how there isn't a category to put these type of things under....

idk why you wouldn't put healthcare volunteering under volunteering... that's literally the only place you would put it lol. Just put it under there, don't listen to no handbook.

I just put my hospice/hospital volunteering under the volunteer section. It obviously doesn't go anywhere else. They can interpret it as they see fit.

Take the handbook with a grain of salt... it really doesn't matter where you put it as long as it's on your application.

Ok I called AADSAS again and another guy picked up. He told me he isn't sure why the handbook has volunteering as that definition, but he said to go ahead and put my health-care volunteering under volunteering. Except, if you shadow and volunteer at same clinic or office to put that together under shadowing and list in description you also volunteered. So I think I will do that since two workers told me to.
