First my disclaimer: I'm an ex AAEM BOD member, and lecturer. I am however a member of multiple organizations AAEM, ACEP, SAEM..the alphebet goes on.
I truely find the lectures at AAEM to be top notch, and honestly it IS where I go for my EM CME. As a smaller forum we are able to have verygood oversight on return lectures etc. These are the supe lectures that other organizations tout only without the other luke-warm lectures (just the reality folks).
There is a seperate tract for residents that includes buisness issues, pre and post graduate topics etc.
As a smaller forum you have the true oppertunity to interact with leaders in the specialty, plus as residents it might be nice to know that all lecturers are either ABEM/AOBEM or Boarded leaders in their specialty (surgery eg).. this year the president of the AMA will be providing the keynote address...not too shabbby!
Oh yeah then there is that secret handshake we show those who attend since we are so radical!!!!...so who knows this secret handshake well me, Robert McNamara, Rosen, Peter Deblux, Jerome Hoffman, Amal Mattul, Jerris Hedges, Mel Herbert, Billy Malon, Antoine Kazzi, James Adams...the list goes on.
See ya in Miami...or just check out the line up on the AAEM web page. Better yet join and check things out for yourself. And good luck on interviews.
