I posted before on what I should do about taking the mcat next week in a different post, but just to get to the point my aamc average is about 29, with some below and some above scores until I just took aamc 10. I don't know what happened and didn't feel that bad about it until I actually saw the score.

AAMC 10: PS 8, VB 4, BS 7=19

I typically score around 11 on PS 9 or 10 on VB and 9 or 10 on BS. I honestly don't know how to react to this score. Did anybody experience something similar at one point.

Postpone the exam.

Your score on the final AAMCs are the most indicative of the real deal so if I were you I'd postpone ASAP.

how does something like this happen randomly though. I mean I was averaging 29 with some in the 30 range and all of a sudden this?

It might have to do with the randomness of the verbal section/unforgiving scaling. How much time have you devoted to study verbal reasoning passages and strategies and such? I had something similar happen with mcat 5r today after getting a 10 on the verbal on the 3r.

If you can guarantee yourself consistent grades on practice exams, you aren't going to fair well on the real thing.

But the inconsistency of this grade is severe compared to my other grades. I mean a 4 on verbal, how does that even happen. I was a consistent 9 or 10

Im thinking of taking it and most likely voiding it but at least taking it for the real deal practice.

Not sure why you dropped 10-11 points from your average - that is very very strange.

I only dropped 3 points from my average when I took AAMC 10.

And to be honest, the verbal on AAMC 10 is probably one of the easiest - you should have scored at least a 7-8 on it.

I typically score 9-10 on verbal, I really do not know what happened. I will take aamc 11 on Saturday bc its the last one and I figure I might as well take it. I'l put money that il hit a 30 or around that to really cap off my inconsistency on the aamc tests. In reality I think il take the real test and mostly likely void but still use it for practice.

lol that is literally the worst mindset you can have going into the exam. If you take it, take it like it's your last time.

The last aamc I just took honestly broke me down, and I feel as if all the studying went to waste. I feel mentally drained and broken and according to everyone should most likely postpone, In fact I think you were one of those people, So I figured let me at least use it as practice. I'm sure it can be understood getting the score I got all of a sudden about a week before the exam is heavily weighing on me mentally.

Forget about everyone, think yourself about yourself!!!!!! People will give you 100s of different opinions but decide for YOURSELF what's the best way.

Have you had any inconsistency like this on your other AAMC practice tests? If not, then take the MCAT and in my opinion, you should not void it.

Things happen - people get burned out without even realizing that they're burning out. Thankfully it happened to you on a practice exam. Take a step back, get a perspective, and then independently make your own decision. I know how heartbreaking this can be. I've had my ups and downs with the MCAT as well (got sick the day before the test, went into thinking that I'll void it, and then adrenaline kicked in, and I forgot about my illness, no more lingering thoughts about voiding, and I submitted my exam! )

Thanks. I took a day break after the practice test (the next day) and realized I was burnt out for the last couple of weeks and didn't realize it until I took the break and felt normal again. I just don't like attributing things to excuses even if it is a legitimate excuse. I decided to take it do my best and if I feel comfortable submit the exam, but take it as if it is my last time taking it.

Hate to bump this 1.5 year old thread, but how did you do on your real MCAT? I had a lower than expected score on AAMC 10 and I'm curious about your experience.

My lowest score was also on AAMC 10. I don't know why people revere AAMC 10 and 11 as so highly predictive, my score on AAMC 11 was considerably higher than my score on AAMC 10, and they felt very different.

I think the high regard for AAMC 10 and 11 may just be superstition. I think the best predictor is your average across all the AAMC practice tests you have taken.

AAMC 10 is harsh. Although a 10 point drop is unusually harsh, my drop was "only" 4 points.

Look up any AAMC and type in "hard" "difficult" or "especially tough" and you will find confirmation for your fears on this site. Read into that what you will...
