In the question stem, it says the area is 5cm^2. In the answer key, they converted that into m^2 by saying it was 5*10^-2 square meters. But shouldnt the conversion be 5*10^-4 sqaure meters? because you have to square the conversion factor.

Because its 1 percent change, the same as 1/100 or .01
