object with 15 grams mass is immersed in benzene and suffers apparent loss of mass of 5 grams. what is the approximate specific gravity of the object? S.G of benzene is 0.7.

i had this worked out with the math a few weeks ago but i lost the sheet and as i was reviewing the test again i have a major brain fart behind the concept of this question. can someone help with the math concept behind this please, thank you in advance.

0.7 g/mL for benzene. 5 g / 0.7 g/mL = ~7 ml displaced = volume of the object.

15 g / 7 mL = slightly greater than 2 g/mL
