Man, I'm taking AAMC 8 right now and that PS section just manhandled me; mainly the x-ray passage...haven't scored it yet...

Anyone else feel the same when they took it?

god this was a huge kick in the nuts. back to the test....

That passage was indeed intimidating. However most of the questions can only be answered by understanding the passage. I thought it was more like a verbal passage. Agree?

Agreed, turns out I got most of those right (I pulled up the kaplan explanations pdf during the break lol) but made stupid mistakes on the precipitation passage which as so easy X( (forgot to multiple moles by 2; misread to the question to say most INSOLUBLE particles instead of soluble.)

sigh....c'est la vie and poor test taking skills...

argh, I made that exact same mistake. I even had the 2 written down in my notes, I just forgot to carry it through.

At least we make these mistakes on the practice so that come game day, we shouldn't!

There was a verbal passage in 8 where I got every single question wrong. To this day I have no idea what the passage was about. I literally cannot find a topic sentence or a main idea anywhere in that thing.

AAMC 8 ought to come with a jar of vaseline, 'cause your gonna get raped. Thankfully the later AAMCs and the real thing were much easier.

The real thing was EASIER? ohhhh??!?:claps:

Yeah 8 was the first CBT I took from AAMC and it was the one I got the lowest score on.

The real thing is def not easier.
Wow, way to kill m y hopes haha!

I didn't like that magnet passage, but I ended up getting only 1 wrong. It was that stupid "Which atom will have a non zero something?" And I just guessed. I didn't even understand where they pulled the information from in the explanation.

I hated that question, I haven't looked at the test explanations or anything, but i couldn't figure out anything...

Just got my score, and I got a 27 (10/7/10).....it's the weirdest thing, I came out of that verbal thinking 'I did great!' because I actually finished the passages, and felt I comprehended all of it REALLY well....guess not...

I also thought one of the questions regarding natural selection was WAYYY off--I did field work throughout UG and know for a fact their answer is wrong haha

I did AAMC 8 yesterday.

I indeed found the verbal hard (managed a 10 though), however I didn't have a problem at all with PS/BS. Just use the passage - it's right in front of you for that reason, even if the physics isn't something you had seen before.

Also I don't agree with checking the pdf of the answers just to ease your conscious in the break. On the real MCAT you will likely feel worried and feel like crap because the PS was quite hard. You won't be able to ease yourself by checking the answers quickly and saying "oh I got this right, oh I got this wrong" etc...you're going to have to live with that unease the entire test.

The real thing will not be easier.

The X-ray passage was actually pretty easy if you read the passage.

Also, the non-zero spin question I think was pretty easy too.

I didn't get it at first but if you look at the answer choices you could figure it out. The only one with an odd number of electrons was fluorine....

I guess I didn't understand the whole "nucleons spin" thing. I didn't see it in the passage and so I just guessed pb 208 cause it was an isotope of pb, and it was the only isotope there.
