Aamc / Amcas Id???

Hi everyone,

When you register for the MCAT, does the AAMC automatically assign an AAMC ID to you? If so, is this ID # on the MCAT admission ticket, and furthermore is this the same AAMC ID we should use for AMCAS 2006?

Also, I am doing a SMEP over the summer and I have had an AAMC account (along with ID) since January 2005 - is this ID going to be my AMCAS account number as well?

Not sure about the number on the admissions ticket because I don't have mine. But yes to your other questions. I really haven't had any reason to know my ID#, because you only need your user name and password to login, it keeps track of your ID# for you.

sounds like you have lots of ID's. Call or e-mail (preferably call) AMCAS and explain your situation. They'll put your mind at rest.

This is the number you will need to know. The MCAT # is just transitory.

And yes, you WILL know it by heart at the end of the application cycle.

(I don't know how many hundreds of times I had to recite my AAMC ID number)
