AAMC vs. AMCAS ID Number?!

I've been getting a little confused here. I was sending addendums with an AAMC number on it, however, some of my secondaries are asking for an AMCAS ID number. Are these the same thing? If I goofed up, would adcomms be able to tell them apart? Would it be held against me? They are very similar acronyms. Many thanks!

lol, what a relief! I sent out the first half of my addendums referring to an AAMC number ,then AMCAS to the second half. Can you tell this process, and the excruciating attention to detail, is starting to chip away at my sanity?

It's the same number...what on earth do you mean you sent half with one number and half with a different number!?

I sent one half out, I thought that I had made a silly mistake and "corrected it". Looking at some of my secondaries, I realized that the term was being used interchangeably. Needless to say, I felt very confused.

Understandable.

The thing to remember is that the AMCAS is part of the AAMC; it makes no sense for them to have two separate ID's for you.

Also, if you happen to re-apply next year (not saying you will), then you still have the same ID number. Just remember this one number and you're golden.
