WHY IS AAMC SO difficult ABOUT RELEASING practice tests and discussing questions? LSAC for the lsat releases all their practice materials and doesn't give test-takers a hard time about registration. why can't they be a little more flexible about test dates or release more recent practice materials. frustrated. 😡

Haha. The MCAT is a completely different beast! It's just the nature of the exam (you can't compare it to anything else).

I agree with you...but I think that they make more than a small chunk of change on the AAMC practice exams. I know that most students buy all of them, or get them from kaplan (who also buys them). So a conservative estimate of 50,000 students buying all 8 practice exams is probably not too far off.
That's like (gets out calculator): $1.4million. 😱

Anyway, it is their right to do what they wish with the materials that they have and so that's how it is...

don't forget the 210 for taking the test 🙂 . ah well it's not like any1 doesn't pay for the practests

lol the funny thing is...

on the official AAMC Forums at e-mcat.com, people discuss AAMC materials/test questions all the time

Not that any of you are going to appreciate hearing this, but count yourselves lucky. Step 1 costs $490 to register, and the practice tests cost $45 each. Step 2 is even worse....sigh.

Yup. One of the docs was saying that it cost him something like 1100 dollars every time he needs to renew his board certification or something. It is completely ridiculous that they charge that much. Kind of sucks they have such a stranglehold on tests. Not even counting all the prep materials and whatever else, that is 5,000,000 dollars or so per year just for registration isn't it?
