Hi everybody,

I took the DAT recently, and I was pleased with the results. I scored a 21 AA with no section below 18 and a TS of 19. I was issued a score report after the exam, and it seemed generally consistent with the practice tests I had taken (DAT bootcamp, PAT practice, and 2007/2009 ADA DAT).

The one big surprise= I received a 29 on my RC. I finished and had time to double check, but I felt like I received a 19 or 20 when I finished with the section. The score I received was surprising, as I never scored higher then 24 on a practice. This was just the preliminary report from Prometric, but these scores are generally correct, no? Any idea how this will look or be interpreted by adcoms? I was happy, but I'm still not quite sure what to make of this.

Dental schools like high reading scores. Why?Because there is a lot of reading in dental school and they want to make sure you can keep up the pace. Students have reported to me that when being interviewed if they have a lower reading score they have been asked why? Your high reading score will compliment the other scores and be noticed. If I had to guess I would say you have a nice GPA and have always been a strong reader. From what you posted above you put in hard work and it paid off.

In all my years working with students I have never seen the official score report differ from what is given at the testing center.

Good luck in the application process.
