hey i am one of under 3.0 applicant with 19 DAT.
i do not want lose hope for this cycle yet but i think i need some backup plan for later cycle.
if i cannot get in any school for this year, i want to attend masters program to raise up my GPA section, but i do not have any information about it.
could u guys give me some info about it? like which program is good or requirement for attending.
also, is it require the GRE score to get in?
Thank you, and gl this cycle.

check out the sdn post bac forum, you'll find tons of info on SMP.

depending on where you live you might want to search for schools with dental department. not only will you have the chance to interact with faculties in the department you might even get to know the dean and get accepted before anyone else. you want to look at the schools site and check to see each professor's research topic and if its something you are interested in. I suggest molecular biology, or cancer biology, virology are all pretty good topics. once you have that, send emails to the professor and let them know you are interested in doing research and ask if they are hiring any graduate students. if they are, you are in, but before you get in you might need to take your GRE. I am in the same boat as you, but i have a master degree already. This year I just got an interview couple weeks ago. so its def possible. good luck you can do it

If all else fails do this. Research the school you REALLY want to go to. If its harvard or NOVA (for some reason this cycle), Nebraska, forget it. Do not make donations to the school with your application. Instead, with the reseach from the school they will tell you if upper level bios are better than a masters. Yes masters' gives you a new gpa, but it may not be what you want to study. Some schools will tell you upper level bios are better even if your GPA jumps at max 0.1 point. They (most schools except the ones stated above that I know of) will look at your transcript and see that all you took were first year dental courses, i.e. microbio, virology, immunology, ANATOMY FOR SURE, PHYSIOLOGY for sure. if you get all 4's in these you will be golden at the schools that prefer this as well you won't have to study as much in first year for these particular areas.
