About to start my radiology elective and I was wondering if anyone has some advice

Hi
I am about to start my radiology elective and was wondering if anyone can give advice about how to make a good impression during the elective

Its pretty hard to impress anyone while on a radiology rotation.

The med students that I enjoy having around are the ones that are friendly and easy to get along with. They don't ask an inordinate number of questions, but ask good ones occasionally.

You need to get a sense of when is a busy or hectic time and don't badger the residents and attendings during that time.

Trying to point out pathology while at the reading board, especially when the resident is staffing, is not appreciated.

Read as much as you can, but realize that you will not learn even a fraction of what radiology entails during that time. Focus on plain film anatomy and pathology (chest x-ray, abd x-ray). On cross sectional studies, try to get a general idea of normal anatomy and the techniques used.

Letting people know you are interested in radiology (only if you really are) will not necessarily make a better impression, but will alter somewhat the way that the residents and attendings treat you.

As for books, try Squire's Fundamentals of Radiology. Easy to read, but long. Other good ones are Felson's chest x-ray book, small, easy to read programmed text. Radiology recall and Radiology Secrets are good books as well. These are more focused on factoids that you could be pimped on (although there is usually minimal pimping in radiology for med students).
