I don't know what to say, these interviewees (5 people I interviewed over 2 days for medical school) are AMAZING. Are college students getting smarter at this process? I thought I was pretty good with my 4+ years over them but I have to say some of these guys seem like professional actors with scripts in their heads. Maybe it's me?

It's why I stopped doing interviews for candidates for med school. On paper they're 10X better then I ever could be and they interview like a pro. All I can do is write superlatives and check "would make an excellent candidate for admission" box. I feel like I'm not discriminating at all because I'm so blown away by these people.

I HAVE heard classmates interviewed some psychos they definitely felt they shouldn't recommend, but that seems rare.

We apparently have a UFC fighter in the class below us. It would have been pretty cool to interview him. But yea, most students will have gotten good at interviewing so I usually try to throw a few curveballs their way, something that isnt scripted. I dare you to try on your next interview, "So...tell me a funny joke"

Or better make them answer the logical questions. Like how many piano tuners are in New york? They have to logic their way through making an estimate.

When I interview I personally comment on whether they would fit into OUR class well (which is what we as student interviewers are told to do at my school). Some people you can just tell wouldn't fit in with the group at your school.
