Recently, A PD at one of my interviews said that the board of psych did not want residency programs to have acute care rotations (ER) as a part of the residency training curriculum. They want more continuous care months in primary care such as IM and/or peds ward months.

Is this true?

I have interviewed at many programs that require one ER month. Will this mean that I end up having to complete another primary care month if the board changes the requirement for board eligibility?

Thanks!

There's no way any program will not have you graduate within the normal time frame without a required prerequisite. If they change it so that no ER is allowed, then the PD of your program will simply eliminate the ER rotation and replace it with something else. He has to. Simple as that.

:luck:
