ABPN Recertification

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Fortunately, I work at a large psychiatric hospital and we have PIP embedded in our performance review, so I just use that.

If you've got a supervisor it's really easy. If not, it is slightly more annoying. I can just have my supervisor review me and redo the eval in a couple of months.

I do the 360 eval with nurses, residents, social workers, etc. I've been audited. They DO ask for the forms, BTW. Which was weird because I thought those were just mine.

I do the patient mailing ones.

PIP is a complete waste of time. I look forward to the day when I'm out of medicine. These extra BS requirements are a psychological erosion, akin to death by a thousand cuts.

Yes this is the reason I want out of medicine as well. When I chose this profession, doctors had much more autonomy and could focus on providing care. Now there is so much BS that is either for administrators to make money or to attempt to have oversight of the new batch of providers who would not have been providers 15+ years ago, and should not be currently. It's quite demoralizing.

You can make up your own and fax it to them for approval. Once I sent them my regular therapist eval forms and said I was going to incorporate the feedback into the therapeutic work (which I was doing anyway since that was the point of the form). The next time I sent them a clinical case series I wrote comparing outcomes from two different approaches and said I was going to adapt my practice based on the results.

Blah blah blah NBPAS is accepted by The Joint Commission and insurance paneling as a valid board certification blah blah blah

blah blah blah support competition in the board certification environment blah blah blah

blah blah blah APBN is bloated, cumbersome, and does not have evidence that it increases the quality of care blah blah blah

blah blah blah APBN is just a money grab. Do MOC and go through NBPAS instead blah blah blah

Yeah but NBPAS is barely accepted by like any hospitals or other agencies right now as "board certification". It's also not totally clear what insurers accept it as board certified without individually asking every one.

I agree the ABPN QI and PIP stuff and money grubbing is ridiculous.
