Does anyone know of any abroad electives or experiences in psychiatry for medical students? Is it a thing?

Yeah, a lot of medical schools accept visiting students for rotations.

Yes! It is absolutely a thing. PM me for details if you are interested.

I was being lazy when I typed my initial response. It's definitely a thing, but the nature of the thing depends on what you're looking for. With overseas rotations, most people are either looking to help underserved people in developing countries or to take a 4-week vacation in a tourist destination. Either way, there are lots of options. You could do anything from working at a heroin recovery center in Karachi and risking your life every day on your way to work to rotating at an academic hospital in Sydney and surfing every day after work.

My school doesn't offer anything. They have plenty in things like OB or emergency. I was looking at it seems like several schools like Yale encourage their residents and fellows to do things, such as with Yale's Global Health Initiative. I still haven't come across anything yet for medical students.
