Hey you guys I wanted to know does anybody have any academic goals for this upcoming semester and new year that they are trying to accomplish? Maybe get on the dean's list (or again), finally join a club, start volunteering or getting clinical experience (or get a certain amount of hrs if you have already started), get a certain score and above on the Mcat, or get an "A" in a class you consider tough this semester. I hope you guys don't think this thread is stupid, i'm just trying to be a part of the commuity.

Ok I'll go first, I'm only really shooting for two things this semester:

I'd like to get straight A's again because that would raise my GPA to a little over a 3.8 (I haven't taken orgo yet and I'm trying to get my GPA as high as I can before it drops  lol that way it doesn't hurt me much)

And I'd like to get at least a hundred hrs in the E.R.

anybody else want to share?

I'd like to make my top choice medical school. 😀

-get a 4.0 for what my dad has kindly described as "the most crucial semester of my undergraduate career"
-continue with all of my EC's from last semester, begin 2 more.
-go on an alternative break
-do reasonably well on the MCAT??
-GO TO OFFICE HOURS. make friends. get letters.
-get my apps in early
-train and complete the ride around lake tahoe in a non-humiliating amount of time.
-have some interviews by this time next year??

I'd like to get all A's, missed out this year because of a stupid Botany class 😡. My schools Dean's List is ridiculously easy...you only need a 3.25 so I'd DEFINITELY like to get on it . And wanting the high MCAT score is a given....

-Get at least a 3.75 which is manageable but might be somewhat difficult at a top 25 school...
-Start 3 new EC's and probably quit my current job (already signed up)
-Go on an alternative spring break program
-Get into a summer internship or summer classes
-Try to still have friends while doing all of this

poor thing

Lmao at the dean's list thing. Really? What happened with the botany class if you don't mind me asking? I'm taking that class this semester did you find it hard?

No, it wasn't hard and that's why I'm so pissed about the B. It's just one of those classes at my school where the prof grades extra hard on everything. Apparently he's close to getting sacked though 😀. It was more that I didn't know what the hell he wanted on the essay questions and he wasn't very clear. Just glad it's over!!!

Excel academically ㅡㅡ'
improve my Korean (more than just for Korean class)

  • Finish my Personal Statement
  • Get five letter of recommendations--in by march
  • Get a 4.0 for the spring semester
  • Send off my TMDAS on May 1st
  • Send off my AMCAS application on June 1st
  • Doing well this application cycle.
  • Get into a good medical school, and enjoy my semester off!

Continue making the grades I started with, not be just another victim of Cal II.
I am determined to find a good opportunity for clinical volunteering, one of the clinics around here must be open to the idea, because the hospitals are rather unwelcoming.
Hoping to get a spot in the summer research internship I want.
Be competent and excel in my research this coming semester to make a good impression on my PI.

1) graduate in May from post-bacc with 3.92 (maybe even 4.0 if a miracle happens in Jan)

2) Continue and do more hours for the community service organization

3) find a nice new apt to move into 🙂 Im tired of my place!

- pull a 4.0
- join a club or 2 at school
- look into summer jobs (really want to be a medical scribe if possible)
- become more fluent in spanish
- get 1 science LOR and 1 regular LOR

-
-Study, study, study, study
- Get all A's next semester.
- Make progress with my current research.
- Get an A-M-A-Z-I-N-I-N-G score on the Mcat.
- Continue volunteering and shadowing.
-Get into the summer research program that I really want.
-Apply to Md/Phd programs and get into at least one, the possibility of that happening is almost zero.....but in miracles I do believe

I just have the MCAT next semester since I will not be enrolled in college for the first time in 7 years. It's gonna be very weird and cool at the same time.😎

  • Pull a 4.0
  • Get at least 1 L.O.R.
  • SAVE MONEY!!
  • Re-new CPR cert so I can get EMT-B cert

I think I can pull a 4.0, I did pretty well last semester with about 30% Brain Power used

Get straight A's (and A+'s if I can manage) in my classes this winter quarter. Lots of chemistry 😳

Try and find some research or clinical opportunity

Make up a list of schools to apply to in June

Work on Personal Statement 😕

1) Pull a 4.0 to save my decrepit GPA
2) Beast the MCAT
3) Get into top choice med school (more like a dream)
4) Get published
5) Do all the EC's I have planned (there's such a long list)

prerequisites,present,publish,propose.

also shadow and collect muchas datas but i didn't now how to make that fit with my alliteration train.

Fortunately, I'm looking at a much less stressful spring semester.

  • Avoid slacking off in my last semester of college
  • Maintain a 4.0
  • Enjoy the end of undergrad!

I have been thinking about my resolutions for awhile now. Here they are:
  • Maintain a 3.9
  • Actually attend discussion sections
  • Go to office hours
  • Get research experience
  • Get more non-medical volunteering

Did you get in anywhere?

I found this to be true as well. Every hospital I contact leads me to the black hole of human resources or some inept student services department. In fact, after bashing my head against the wall with one hospital they finally told me "Our Student Services are actually only for nursing students, we don't cater to pre-meds". :uhno:

1. Get another 4.0
2. Start tutoring
3. Hospice Volunteering
4. Transfer

Yes, I got into one of my state medical schools. It was my top choice so I'm very excited. 🙂

Good jerb

One of my biggest goals is to take Organic Chem I and II, Physics I and II all over the summer term, over A and B sessions. each class will last 6 weeks.

I realize this is not a very desirable course load, but may be necessary. I have been learning both disciplines on my own time, so hopefully this will not be complete academic suicide.

I'm gunning for a 4.0 next semester, which really shouldn't be very difficult considering I'm only taking 11 credits. I'm taking ochem, bio 2, calc 1, and the mcat at the end of May.
