I had academic probation three years ago due to my GPA dropping below a 2.0 for one quarter. It only lasted for one quarter. Do I have to list this as an institutional action? There is no notation of this on my transcript, other than the grades for that quarter (F, C+, C+).

At my undergrad, how it works was if I got a GPA below 2.0 one quarter, I would be placed on academic probation, and then I had 2 quarters to bring it back up, (which I did obviously). If I didnt, I would be put on "subject to dismissal", and even then, the school still gives me time to bring my grades up.

I know theres alot of threads on this, but its a slew of people saying different things, so I just want a definitive answer.

EDIT: I did more digging and I will list it as an IA. Would this significantly reduce my chances? Here is the WAMC thread I posted a few days ago:DO - 3.07 cgpa/ 3.01 spa/4.0 post bacc 514 MCAT

Sorry if Im being overly neurotic. Ive spent the last year and a half working harder than I ever have and I dont want it all to be for nothing.

Yes you do have to list it. They can see the grades for that semester, so it isn't exactly going to surprise them anyway.

A 4.0 post bacc and a solid MCAT go a long way toward proving you aren't the same student you were. I had an IA for academic probation, as well as dorm violations on my application. I had interviews at nearly every DO school I applied to. That doesn't mean that you will have the same cycle, but it does mean it isn't game over for you. You will be asked about it during interviews. Own it, don't make excuses, and show growth.

Good luck and don't panic.

This, although a 3.6+ GPA will suffice. I've seen tons of applicants with academic probation, and even dismissals. You just need to show that the you of now is not the you of then.
