Academic Status for Coursework in AACOMAS application

In the AACOMAS application manual it defines academic status as...

Freshman Approximately 0 - 32 semester hours completed
Sophomore Approximately 31 - 64 semester hours completed
Junior Approximately 61 - 96 semester hours completed
Senior Approximately 91 - comp

Should I follow these hours and their academic status or just list my academic status for each course by the generally accepted 4 year titles (1st yr-freshman, 2nd yr-soph, etc.)?

I did the latter and I was verified without a problem. Mostly because most of my hours were in quarter hours and I did not want to add them all up and calculate where I was... but I think my hours worked out just fine anyways.

I went by units and had no problem.

AACOMAS doesn't really seem to care. List it whichever way feels right to you.
