Academic update period question

Do the majority of applications update their grades/classes on their application during the academic update period even though its optional? Do schools usually require/expect it?

I ask because some of our grades might go down due to senioritis, so I rather not if its not needed.

Some schools may directly ask you for your fall grades when the time comes for that.
