I am interested in attending an Accelerated BSN program. For those of you who are familiar with these programs, how competitive are these programs? What GPA is considered competitive? Any information will be extremely appreciated. Thank you

Hi there! I'm also very interested in these programs, and have had a look at a lot of them, although I can't seem to find people who have done one!! From what I hear, 3.0 is usually the minimum GPA, and you have to have done all the necessary pre-reqs (which varies from school to school). I know of one program that gets about 150 applications per year and on;ly accepts about 35 students, but thats only one program, there are lots more. Wish i could help you out more, if anyone else knows more, please help! 🙂

I think it really depends on the area and the program you are applying to. However, at Michigan State University where I am currently in the Traditional nursing program many of the students in the Accelerated BSN program are former engineers, biology majors, dietetics majors, and pre-med. It seems that the program has a good balance of those going back for a 2nd career and others straight out of undergrad. I would imagine since all nursing programs seem to be pretty competitive, accelerated programs would be also. One thing I do know is that they work hard, 12 hour days, 5 days a week, is what you should expect. Good luck.
